Welcome! This website has been created to provide encouragement and opportunity to connect with God. After ten years of sharing “letters from God” and devotional essays with my friends, I have been encouraged to make my writings more widely available. My hope is that the words I have written will draw readers into the presence of God and provide comfort and strength for their walk with Him. I have also included visual images (photography by Howard Jones and art by my daughter, Suzanne) and music (by Bryan Brown and Michael Ingram) because I want this to be a place where people can sit with a cup of coffee or expand their prayer time and experience the beauty of the Lord in a variety of ways.

My daily experience tells me that people are desperate for encouragement and for good news. My experience also tells me that God speaks today. He calls us to Himself. He reveals who He is. He liberates us by His grace to pursue our calling in Him and gives us opportunity (amazingly) to bring glory to His name.

I particularly want people to love the Bible. The Bible is the precious, dazzling, inerrant, complete Word of God - every verse a rich pool to be explored. It is alive – an interactive Book that has the potential to change our lives every time we open it. Most of my writings have a Bible verse or two at the top and are the result of my pondering that verse. My thoughts are meant to be a springboard for readers to dive in with me and go beyond what I have written. The depths of every verse of the Bible are unfathomable. I want us to jump in together!

I must tell you though that I am not a Bible scholar. I am just a lady from Columbia , Missouri who gets up every morning, reads the Bible and is regularly stunned by God. My writings are the result of that experience and include prayers, words God has spoken to my heart, my own personal experiences and scripture study.

Please bear with the fact that this website is a work in progress. Recent writings will be posted first with older ones added as I have time. For now devotionals are offered in chronological order only but eventually will also be listed by topic. Thank you for visiting Awaken the Day website. My prayer is that it will become a regular sanctuary and source of many blessings for you.
